The brief
How do you bring to life the values of an organisation, and energise everyone within it to achieve a common vision? The challenge here was to get employees to buy into the need for a change in behaviour consistent with organisation values.
The solution
Building on initiatives from the previous three years was vital. So we increased the momentum for change, using sport as a theme to appeal to the audience profile, while ensuring that the CEO was clearly the sponsor.
Values were translated to behaviours and built into training material. Employees were given the opportunity to find real-life, everyday situations to apply the values to. The programme was designed to achieve a common language across every level of the organisation in relation to its vision and values. By creating an engaging story around the vision, employees found it easier to grasp how change was going to benefit them personally. The 'what's in it for me' question was answered through the design of the programme.
The result
The momentum for change achieved far outweighed expectations. Senior managers said their teams were committed to making a difference in the business now that they understood the vision.
From the 1,500 front line workers, to the 300 supervisors and 800 managers who participated in the programme, they all said 'We finally get why the Executive have been doing what they are doing. And yes they need to do it.' The values are no longer just on paper.
