Every programme is unique; however there are some common features that link all our Literacy at Work courses. This is because we’ve discovered through trial and error that certain factors are common to most successful Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) programmes:

Here’s what The Learning Wave considers best practice in LLN delivery in the workplace:

• Embedding LLN skills into workplace tasks
• Appropriate selection of staff
• Voluntary participation
• Support during and post programme
• Delivery during work hours
• Small groups
• Minimum of 30-40 hours
• Regular and frequent delivery
• Tutors who are experienced and trained in workplace LLN
• Programme fits individual needs and is aligned with company goals
• Programme and delivery is underpinned by the principles of adult learning.
